Nora Lahl Promoted to Partner and Principal at Lightburn
Third Ward-Based Digital Agency Unique Among Tech Companies with Double National Average of Female Employees
January 22, 2019 (Milwaukee) Sometimes things just fit. And when something in a small business really fits and works, smart leadership recognizes it and makes sure to hold on to the people and things that make their business successful. On January 2, 2019, Lightburn, a Third Ward-based digital agency, continues to lead the industry by promoting Nora Lahl to partner. Lahl, who has been with the agency for eight years, has been instrumental in the company’s growth. Her management style fits within the company like a familiar glove.
Lahl has been a member of the leadership team since the day she walked in the door. Owners Andy and Scott Wintheiser simply realized that it was time to make their relationship and Lahl’s contribution to the company official. While Lahl’s day-to-day responsibilities won’t change much, the Wintheisers realized two things that led to this decision: Lightburn is what it is today in part because of Lahl, and the company is more valuable with her than without her.
“Nora has always put more into Lightburn than her role required,” said Scott Wintheiser. “She has acted as a partner from the beginning and making her one is well deserved. We could not be happier knowing she will be a key part of the team for years to come.”
Lightburn is somewhat unique in the world of tech. Not only does Lightburn now have a partner and principal in the agency who is female, but half of its workforce within the company are women. That’s twice the national average for women working in computer sciences and information technology. From research, to design, to SEO, to back- and front-end development, women are integral to the day-to-day operations at Lightburn.
While excited about the promotion, Lahl takes it all in stride. “I’ve always joked that my goal was to become an honorary Wintheiser Brother. Looks like I’ve made it,” joked Lahl.
Lahl graduated from Marquette University in 2002 with a degree in Public Relations. Throughout her career she has held a variety of positions with Milwaukee-area agencies including project manager, producer and production artist, where she got her first taste of working in digital media. At Lightburn, her main duties include project management, mentoring and guiding the Lightburn team, and new business development. Nora believes in building connections through service and over the years has volunteered with Victory Garden Initiative, The Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin Humane Society, and currently serves on the school engagement council for her children’s school. Lahl has also spoken to national and local organizations about digital processes and project management.
