Project intro
Smoother performance, better boater experience.
Mercury Marine is a U.S.-based marine engine division of a global manufacturing powerhouse. If you've seen a sporting boat on TV, you've likely seen Mercury Marine. When their marketing team came to us, their site was operating poorly, making for a less than ideal customer experience for boaters looking to buy new engines. This misalignment also increased the amount of time it took for their in-house team to manage the website. Working with their design and branding partner, our team dove into the deep end to help alleviate technical problems and build new features to ensure their website was operating at its best.
The Problem
Our objectives for Mercury Marine.
Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
Fix everything. Then be sure every customer has a seamless and reliable experience online.
Evolve and add back-end functionality
Add additional features without compromising existing products, navigation, and design.
Add new languages and data integrations
Help reach international markets by working with existing service and tech partners.
The Solution
The strategy behind the fix
Propelled into a global site audit
First and foremost, we went through the entire website and applied all applicable web, SEO, and labeling best practices. Then, we ensured all the links were live, calls-to-action were active, and products were appropriately displayed.
Built new onboard features
We helped their team design and develop new product templates and landing pages directly within their CMS. New landing pages provide product comparison, interactive tools, and filters that help customers find products.
Helped manage global communications
Working directly with their translating partner, we help manage, edit, and upload content based on location. At the time, the website offered over 50 different language variations.
Streamlined technology and integrations
Our team worked with IT to ensure that the technical infrastructure of the website was supported. In addition, we built and supported third-party integrations so data could flow seamlessly between systems.
The Results
Stronger performance, lasting impact.
Summary
Cleaning up the code and technical structure of the website helped Mercury Marine reach and support its brand ambassadors.
